The leader of mankind and best teacher of all, our Prophet Muhammad SAW said, “The best gift from a father to his child is education and upbringing.” [Hadith of At-Tirmidhi]

Children are precious gifts from Allah SWT, and providing them with the best Islamic education is our duty and responsibility as parents, and something which we will be questioned by Allah SWT about. A good education and upbringing is the best gift we can give to our children as it will remain with them throughout their entire lives. It is also a means of the parents gaining Paradise, as a pious child who prays for you is an ongoing charity on your behalf, and will earn you rewards even after your death.

We strongly believe that it is through education that our children will learn about their religion and attain high morals and discipline, which will allow them to retain their true identity and also mould them into good Muslims and citizens in society. Our aim is to instil the love and zeal for Islam in the hearts of our future generation.

Madrasah Azhar runs its weekday evening classes for boys and girls at Azhar Masjid, Our evening Madrassah has been established since 2003 and we currently have 250 students attending, Alhamdulillah. The Madrassah runs from Monday to Friday, 5pm-6:30pm. Children can be enrolled from the age of five onwards. Our teachers are qualified Islamic scholars who have the best interests of their students at heart.

The Madrassah is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children. The safety and well-being of each and every one of our students is of paramount importance to us. The Madrassah staff who are in a position of trust and responsibility, aim to ensure that the teaching environment is conducive for the learning of their children and assures optimum safety. All our staff are DBS checked.

Our children are taught the method of reciting the Holy Qur’an with tajweed and makhaarij, which is the correct pronunciation and rules that the Qur’an should be recited with. Additionally, they are taught Hifdh (memorisation) of several Surahs of the Qur’an and also supplications which they can benefit from by reciting on a daily basis.

They study Ahadeeth which are the sayings, actions and approvals of the Holy Prophet SAW and his companions RA. Alongside Ahadeeth they study Seerah, the life of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, the perfect role model for us all, as well as the lives of his companions RA, from whom we can gain much.

Children are taught Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), which is the knowledge and understanding of Islamic laws and rulings, e.g. The method of performing ablution, prayer etc. They also study Akhlaaq and Aadab (character and mannerisms) which teaches them Islamic morals and etiquettes, and how to behave and conduct themselves according to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Furthermore, the children are taught Aqeedah which is the study of the beliefs of the Islamic faith.

These subjects provide an excellent combination of topics which the youth enjoy studying and benefit from greatly.
