Seeking religious knowledge is a duty for all Muslims, men and women alike. Women play a vital role in society; they are the mothers of the future generation and the first teachers of our children. If our women are given the opportunity to educate themselves about Islam, they will be able to pass this knowledge onto their families, and nurture their children in such a manner that they grow up with the love and yearning for Islam in their hearts, and ultimately create a better society.
Azhar Masjid run study sessions for women of all ages which take place weekly on Saturday mornings, from 11am-1pm.
They are taught by qualified female Islamic scholars who are experienced in the Islamic theology field. The sessions consist of the study of tajweed, which is the knowledge and application of the rules of recitation of the Holy Qur’an. These classes are designed to improve recitation of the Qur’an and are accessible to all, regardless of ability. They also consist of the study of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and question & answer sessions for any Islam based queries. These study sessions are a favour for the women in the community from our behalf, hence they are free of charge. Alhamdulillah they have proved extremely enjoyable and beneficial for the women who currently attend.
